The faculty was established in 1958 on the basis of the mechanical faculty that had existed since the Foundation of MADI. The first Dean elected was a prominent scientist in the field of production and repair of cars and road vehicles Lev Vladimirovich Dekhterinsky. Prominent scientists and highly qualified specialists, including 15 professors, 42 associate professors worked at 4 profile departments of the faculty.

The faculty has more than 50 international students and postgraduates. In recent years, at the faculty has trained and received higher education students from Azerbaijan, Algeria, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Djibouti, Dominican Republic, India, Jordan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Congo, Mozambique, Moldova, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka and other countries.

Science Achievements

Students study the structure and the basics of design (including automated) lifting and transport and road construction machines, methods of research of working and information processes that determine their parameters. Students study new advanced technological processes and equipment in the field of mechanical engineering and repair. They also trained for operation and repair of road and technological machines and automated systems for the construction and operation of transport supplementary facilities, computer-aided design of technological processes. New directions of teaching include the use of polymer composite materials in mechanical engineering and additive technologies.

Students Activity

Every year, the faculty hosts international scientific-methodological and research conferences, where students, postgraduates and young scientists present the results of their scientific work. Students of the faculty take part in engineering projects (e.g. Formula-Student), social and sports events. Students of the faculty who have achievements in the field of sports, social and scientific work receive increased scholarships (including ones from the Government of Moscow and the President of Russia).

Why Faculty

The faculty's training areas are popular among Russian and foreign employers. In the course of training, students learn the basics of qualimetry, metrology, methods of testing machines and modern testing equipment, methods of standardization and certification of products and services. Students master advanced technologies of machine production, modern methods of designing technological processes and equipment using electronic devices, advanced methods of automated quality control of machine-building products. The basis for this is a deep fundamental training in General scientific and General engineering disciplines studied at Junior courses. During the training period, students have practical training at machine-building plants, research and design organizations, certification bodies and test centers of construction, road and utility vehicles. On-site classes are regularly organized for leading Russian and foreign companies. Training plans are updated annually in accordance with the requirements of the industry.

Graduates of the faculty effectively work at enterprises that create new automotive and construction equipment; in organizations that perform branded maintenance and repair; producing new and restoring worn-out spare parts of cars; in design and technology firms. In addition to manufacturing, service and research organizations, graduates can successfully work, applying their professional knowledge, in large distribution and dealer companies engaged in the supply of cars, construction equipment and spare parts. Graduates of the faculty receive good training in computer engineering and modern programming methods and can perform work on software development and operation of various computerized control and accounting systems.
