MADI and KAMAZ join forces in developing autonomous off-roaders

On August 6, at the MADI test site, Acting Rector Andrey Keller, Head of the Department of Special Activities Maxim Dneprovsky met the delegation of KAMAZ Innovation Center, headed by the Director for Development of KAMAZ PTC Irek Gumerov and the Deputy General Director Alexei Gorbatovsky.

Colleagues discussed prospects for joint development of new high-tech products for domestic industry using the research and production base of the test site. The guests were shown the research potential of the test site equipment including the unique pavement-testing facility Carousel, that simulates a car moving at a speed of up to 140 km/h, and MADI mobile road laboratories.

Discussing mutual cooperation in the field of research and education the parties stressed the need to enhance interaction in the development and design of unmanned off-road vehicles. An agreement was reached in general on establishing a new chair specialized in unmanned vehicles, that would allow to bring together the scientific potential of the existing chairs including Transport Telematics, Traffic Organization and Safety, Automobiles, and the rich engineering experience of KAMAZ professionals.
