Science Achievements

The department carries out basic research in the field of additive technologies in the production and repair of transport-technological and road-building machines; improving the efficiency of infrared thermography in the quality control of parts made of polymer composite materials; reducing the metal consumption of machines through the use of nature-like polymer composite materials; the use of nature-like polymer composite materials in the manufacture of engineering products

At different times, the heads of the department  were scientists known in the field of production and repair of ground transportation and technological vehicles: Vladimir Efremov, Koshkin Konstantin Timofeevich, Dekhterinsky Lev Vladimirovich, Apsin Vitaliy Petrovich.

Currently, the head of the department is the Academician of the Academy of Quality Problems, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Honored Engineer of Russia, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Zorin Vladimir Alexandrovich

Today, leading scientists and specialists of the Russian Federation are engaged in the preparation of bachelors, specialists and masters in the field of reliability theory, quality assessment and examination of the technical condition of complex systems, engineering technology, as well as the use of polymer composite materials in the manufacture of machine parts.

For the development of new processes for the technical diagnosis of metal structures using intellectual materials, the professor of the department, doctor of technical sciences Baurova Natalya Ivanovna, was awarded the Prize of the President of the Russian Federation in the field of science and innovation for young scientists for 2013 and was awarded the honorary sign of the laureate of the prize of the President of the Russian Federation.

Why MADI

Education at the department allows graduates to gain in-depth knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering, organization of production and repair of parts of transport-technological machines. Courses of disciplines are aimed at an in-depth study of both traditional technologies for the production and repair of engineering products, and new innovative methods using modern equipment and advanced materials.

As part of the training program, students get acquainted with the methods of additive technologies, master the technique of 3D-designing, modeling and 3D-printing, gain skills in assessing the technical condition of machine parts using non-destructive testing methods, designing polymer composite materials and engineering products with their application.

The skills of mathematical and computer modeling, 3D-designing, modeling and 3D-printing allow the graduates of the department to successfully compete in the labor market, as well as carry out practical and leadership activities in modern scientific and production enterprises, including in the public service.
