Various language subjects are delivered by 10 sections of the Chair: English Language; German Language; French Language; Full-time Education; Evening Education; Correspondence Education; Post-graduate Section; Masters Section; World Economy; Additional educational programs: Translator in the Field of Professional Communication; Spoken Language Courses.

Scientific Achievements

 

The research work “The system of foreign language training in a technical university”, carried out by the Chair, is aimed at improving the teaching of a foreign language in an engineering university and is related to the determination of goals, content, methods, technologies and teaching aids. The results are reflected in the development of programs and education materials for various courses in a diversified system of foreign language training, their implementation in teaching practice, as well as in scientific publications of the faculty, including the following:

• “IGIP. International Society for Engineering Education (T.Y.Polyakova, V.M Prikhodko) (1-st prize in the nomination “Pedagogical Sciences” at the IV International Competition of Educational, Methodical and Scientific Literature “Golden Coryphaeus” (2015 )

• Educational-methodical complex edited by T.Y. Polyakova, “Academy” Publishing House: "English for the academic mobility of students, teachers and administrators of technical universities" / ed. by T.Y. Polyakova (including 1 textbook, 3 workbooks, a teachers book for and DVD) (awarded a diploma in the nomination "New types of educational publications" at the 7th All-Russian Competition of University Publications "University Book - 2015");

• In 2016-17 under the leadership of T.Y. Polyakova the project “Development and publication of bilingual educational terminological concise dictionaries for engineering universities of the countries of the Eurasian Union (Kyrgyz Republic)” was implemented, which was funded by the Russkiy Mir Foundation (grant agreement No. 1644Гр / II-225-16-16). For this work MADI was awarded the “The Best Joint Project” diploma at the 5th International Competition of Publications for Organizations of Higher Education “University Books 2019”.

A number of prominent scholars worked at the Chair, including:

Elena Vasilyevna Sinyavskaya - head of the Chair in 1955-1995, Ph.D. in Pedagogical sciences, Professor - expert in the field of methods of teaching foreign languages, author of numerous textbooks, teaching aids and research papers.

Tunkel Valentina Davydovna - Ph.D. in Psychology, Associate Professor, specialist in the field of educational psychology.

Bukh Maya Anatolyevna - Associate Professor, author of popular English language textbooks for graduate students.

Students Activity

Our students take part and win prizes in numerous national and international competitions and contests. To name but a few: International English Language Olympics for Students of the CIS Transport Universities, International Contest for the Best Translation, English Language Dictation for Schools and Universities of the Russian Federation, the 7th International Students Festival “Foreign Language in my Career”, WorldSkills Competition.

Why MADI

No successful professional career is possible without knowing at least one foreign language. Today our graduates work in major international companies, such as BMW, Daimler A.G., Toyota, race for Formula 1 teams, present their projects in foreign languages at Formula Student competitions.
