High school students learn about energy efficiency at MADI

“Automobile transport operation and maintenance” department held a workshop in energy efficiency assessment of a racing car participating in Shell Eco-marathon competition. Assistant Professor Sotskov told high school students about the current world record set in 2010 which is 5,000 km per liter of gasoline.

The students learnt how fuel consumption is dependent on vehicles’ aerodynamics, rolling resistance forces, weight, engine, design, etc. At the end of the lesson the students evaluated the mass and strength of the car body made of composite materials using vacuum infusion technology.
